YOUTH AMBASSADOR

Hi, my name is Blake...

... and I'll be nine years old in April.

The doctor told me I had diabetes in 2002, when I was three years old. I have used an insulin pump since 2003.

I am happy you asked me to be the youth ambassador. I want people to know more about diabetes.

I have to think about my diabetes all the time. I check my blood sugar about 10 times each day and always pay attention to what I eat and how much exercise I get.

I play t ball, soccer, and football. I can do anything that any other kid can do. I like hunting and shooting. My favorite thing is going to the lake and being in the water.

I eat really healthy food and make up new recipes to try with my family. When I grow up, I want to be a chef in New York City.

My parents and my doctors tell me I am doing a good job with my diabetes but I still think it stinks. I am praying for a cure.

I want to thank everyone for their support of the American Diabetes Association. With your help, they WILL find a cure.

Get ready to ride for Blake and all those affected by diabetes...

We have a most special Youth Ambassador to tell you about this year. His story will touch your heart and remind you why you are "Riding for Life".
